Illumination Circuit

DESCRIPTION

Power is supplied to the illumination circuit for the navigation receiver and steering pad switch assembly when the light control switch is in the TAIL or HEAD position.

WIRING DIAGRAM

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

CAUTION:

The vehicle is equipped with an SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) which includes components such as airbags. Before servicing (including removal or installation of parts), be sure to read Precaution for the supplemental restraint system SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM: PRECAUTION (2008 Sequoia) .

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK ILLUMINATION

(a) Check if the illumination for the navigation receiver assembly, steering pad switch assembly, glove box light or other parts (seat heater switch, room light switch, etc.) come on when the light control switch is turned to the HEAD or TAIL position.

Result

Result

Proceed to

Illumination comes on for all components except steering pad switch.

A

Illumination comes on for all components except navigation receiver.

B

No illumination (navigation receiver, glove box light, room light switch, etc.) comes on.

C

Illumination comes on for all components except steering pad switch and navigation receiver.

2.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE - NAVIGATION RECEIVER - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the H54 spiral cable connector.

(b) Disconnect the I24 navigation receiver assembly connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Tester Connection

Condition

Specified Condition

H54-4 (EAU) - I24-6 (SWG)

Always

Below 1 Ω

H54-4 (EAU) - Body ground

Always

10 kΩ or higher

(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

Tester Connection

Switch Condition

Specified Condition

H54-12 (IL+2) - Body ground

(e) Reconnect the spiral cable connector.

(f) Reconnect the navigation receiver assembly connector.

OK

3.

INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the z12 steering pad switch assembly connector.

(b) Connect the positive (+) lead to terminal 5 (IL+2) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 8 (EAU) of the steering pad switch assembly connector.

(c) Check if the illumination for the steering pad switch assembly comes on.

OK:

Illumination for the steering pad switch assembly comes on.

(d) Reconnect the steering pad switch assembly connector.

OK

4.

INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE

(a) Disconnect the z12 and H54 spiral cable connectors.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Tester Connection

Condition

Specified Condition

z12-5 (IL+2) - H54-12 (IL+2)

Spiral cable is turned 2.5 rotations counterclockwise

Below 1 Ω

Spiral cable is centered

Spiral cable is turned 2.5 rotations clockwise

z12-8 (EAU) - H54-4 (EAU)

Spiral cable is turned 2.5 rotations counterclockwise

Spiral cable is centered

Spiral cable is turned 2.5 rotations clockwise

CAUTION:

The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read Precaution for the supplemental restraint system SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM: PRECAUTION (2008 Sequoia) .

(c) Reconnect the spiral cable connectors.

OK

5.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)
